Matariki Celebrations

What a fantastic way to finish our Matariki celebrations.

Jason from the Kaiapoi Public Library came along to our hubs.

We sang songs

and listened to a story.

We watched puppet theatre.

Then we created 

our own Matariki stars.

Strand Maths - Measurement

We have been learning about length.We have been using non-standard units to measure and compare objects.We also created our own rulers to measure in centimeters.We understand that we start at zero and measure from the edge of the object.

 

New Toy Designs

We had a great time in Akeake this week designing our own toys.

We started off by looking at some prototypes of some toys and deciding on what we would make Bigger, something we would Add and 

something that we would Remove or Replace.

After that we got to design and make our own creations using clay.

We had heaps of fun doing this and we came up with some awesome new ideas for toys that could be made in the future!

SOFT TOY DAY

We have been learning about how toys have changed over time.  

This week we brought our favourite soft toy to school.

We shared our toy with our friends and described them in our writing.
