First Week Back!

Akeake had an exciting first week back at school. We have about 65 children who are brand new to our syndicate, so the Year 4s took on the responsibility of showing the new children how things are done in our team.

We played games to get to know each other, we learnt about new routines and where we can find things, and most exciting of all: we started doing some art in our home classes! By the end of the term, each class will have spent 3 sessions with each teacher in the syndicate creating beautiful artwork to displays on our walls and to help us get to know each other a little more. 

We also spent some time looking at our new Values and Beliefs. The focus for this week was Connect, and we also learnt about Respect (which we know a lot about from previous years at KNS), Create, Reflect and Be Brave. We are excited to start showing these new Values and Beliefs to our friends, parents, siblings and teachers!

Beach Education

We were lucky enough to go to the beach this week and learn how to keep ourselves safe in and out of the water. There are 6 rules to follow at the beach and we had to split into groups and act out what it would look like to follow each of the rules. We got to look around the surf club and see the surfboards, IRBs and kayaks. The best part came at the end of the day when we got to spend half an hour in the water on boogie boards and in the waves!

On Monday, the Akeake team embarked on their camp to the Woodend Christian Camp. Spending the first day with our entire syndicate playing mini golf, team building activities like trying 3meter high wall, and on the aero-jump. We were being challenged and having fun. When the year 3 left at 2:30pm, the year 4s set up camp before tracking up and down the huge water slide. The day continued with year 4's screaming down the flying fox, racing around of go-kart and accurately shooting arrows and air rifles. It had been an action-packed first day. 

Day 2 saw the year 4's orienteering, volleyball tournament and a huge clean-up. We had a fantastic time and can't wait until our next camp next year. A huge thank you to all the parents that attended and helped out over the two days.

Grandparents Day

We had such a great time sharing our learning spaces with our grandparents on Grandparents Day.  Thank you to everyone who attended.  The children really loved having you here.  And a huge WELL DONE to our Akeake children who got up on stage and performed a Jump Jam routine.  They had been preparing for a few weeks for this special occasion and they did a wonderful job. Ka Pai everyone!
